Principal's Message

The Ecole Mountain View School Faculty continues to focus on improving student learning and achievement.  In order to achieve this goal, our School Continuous Improvement Plan (SCIP) includes new and continued strategies to improve teaching and learning, to provide a Safe and Caring learning environment, enhance our already broad range of programs and to improve parental involvement.  As an entire staff, we review the previous year's SCIP to identify successful strategies and gaps to meet goals related to the Accountability Pillar.  New strategies and amended strategies have been developed to enhance our journey from "Good to Great."  Implementation of this reflective model ensures that we recognize and celebrate our successes while continuing to focus on growth areas.

We strive to provide our students with sound grading, assessment and reporting practices.   The collaborative culture within our school utilizes a professional learning community model;  providing a structure for implementation of assessment for learning proctices encouraging reflective teaching practices.  Teacher reflection on student achievement, individually as well, as for classes, allows for the implementation of effective instructional strategies as classified by Robert Marzano.  Our use of formative assessments guides classroom instruction,  Reflection on student achievement determines review of learner outcomes as well as enrichment and extension activitgies for students achieving grade level expectations.

We recognize that parental involvement is integral to student engagement and success,  We continue to refine the many opportunities that parents have to be directly involved in their child's education at Ecole Mountain View School.  Parental feedback is reviewed to improve existing oppprtunities for parents to have meaningful involvement in the school and their chidl's education.  Communication of the variety of strategies for parental involvement continues to be a focal point for our school to improve in this area.

In order to achieve continuous improvement in student learning, it is imperative that we continue to provide high quality educational opportunities in an environment that is conducive to learning,  The Virtues program continues to focus on desirable behaviours for adults and students alike.  One of our main goals is to revise our current discipline policy to more accurately reflect our school Code of Conduct.  Recognizingt and celebrating positive behaviours and attributes parallels our belief in positive discipline within the school.

We need to create an awaremess of the achievements of our students and staff.  Celebration of achievements wityh our school community is essential to our continued growth,  We will be focusing our efforts on sharing our story with parents and community members.  The  "Year in Review" publication will share student and accomplishments with the entire school community.  An easily navigated school webpage will allow for enhanced communication of our goals and accomplishments to the general public.  By Achieving our identified goals, we will continue to help our students develop into lifelong learners and socially responsible citiezens.
